Coronavirus Update – Please read carefully – 19/03/20

These are unprecedented and exceptional times. Yesterday’s announcement of whole school closures from Friday until further notice brings with it uncertainty and disruption for many families. We want you to know that, until we are told not to, in some capacity, we are here to help.

Yesterday’s announcement offers support and protection for a small group who, due to exceptional circumstances, really need it. These include pupils of key workers and vulnerable pupils. The arrangements in school for pupils of key workers and vulnerable pupils are an exceptional provision to support families who are working to combat the spread of Coronavirus, and vulnerable children. In order to protect yourselves and your families, as well as reduce the chance of spreading infection or catching the disease, the measures set out by the government by closing schools are the safest option - to be clear, remaining at home is the safest option.

To support you during the coming weeks and months, the ‘Home-Learning Packs’ are now ready. Within the pack, there are details about key tasks for your child to complete, as well as information on how we will continue to communicate with you. The CGP books for each child are due to arrive today and will be either handed to your child today, or delivered over the next week.

Tomorrow, we would like pupils attending school to come in non-uniform and we are dedicating the day to giving pupils lots of ideas for how to keep themselves occupied at home. This will include fun and physical learning activities, card games, gardening and more. Even though we will be doing this, our high expectations on hygiene and social distancing will still be in operation.

I’d like, again, to take this opportunity to thank our incredible staff who have been working so hard – and supporting the plan effectively - to ensure as much normality as possible for our pupils in extremely difficult circumstances. They are committed to supporting you and your families through this period of uncertainty.

With best wishes,

Mr Brogan
